Maheish Girri is advocating the cause of protecting the depleting Ozone layer,
and supporting ‘ShOObh Group’s’ campaign ‘ShOObh Green’ to mitigate the effects
of depleting Ozone layer and preservation of the same. On the occasion of
‘World Ozone Day 2015’ (September 16), an initiative was undertaken by ShOObh
Group and UNIC (United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan),
supported by DDA and EDMC. In addition to the officers of UNO, Shri Rajiv
Chandran, National Information Officer, UNIC, and Saansad Pratinidhi Shri Hari
Arora attended the event which took place at Maharaja Surajmal Park, Delhi.
In his address over mail,
Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General, UNO, said: “Not so long ago, humanity stood on the brink of a self-inflicted
catastrophe. Our use of ozone-depleting substances such as
chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) had torn a hole in the ozone layer.”
Speaking on
the occasion, Shri Rajiv Chandran said: I congratulate ShOObh group on marking World Ozone Day
and spreading environmental awareness. Every leaf saved, adds to our protecting
planet earth. Let’s remember, there is no planet B!
Bharat Gauba, President, shOObh Group said: “Come let's join to Save the Earth &
celebrate life…. remember when we heal the Earth, we heal ourselves.”
Tree plantation
was carried out at the event. Shri Hari Arora requested the children to take a
pledge to save ‘Mother Earth’ and undertake extensive tree plantation. On the
occasion, Shri Hari Arora gave Shri Maheish Girri’s message that “Depletion
of Ozone is continuing to have a devastating effect on planet Earth. Ozone
layer protects us from the harmful effects of sun and ultraviolet rays. It is
imperative that we take a pledge to save our ‘Mother Earth’ and undertake
extensive tree plantation. He who plants a tree, plants a hope. So adopt a tree
as well as plant one today.”
